This is as close as I could get to this Grey Headed Canary flycatcher. The name is quite a mouthful isn’t it? then try Culicicapa ceylonensis. No it’s not endemic. This bird is found in India as well as in Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lanka White Eye get’s it’s name from the white patch around it’s eyes. Predators would mistake the patch as being part of the eye. Large eyes, generally belong to large birds and might persuade birds like the [Shikra][1] to keep away.

I did say earlier that sparrows don’t usually make nests. So why is she holding some dried up grass in her beaks? Well she is building a nest, but it’s inside the bungalow at Great Western. It’s hidden behind a curtain. That window can no longer be opened and the curtains cannot be drawn.
